“For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11
In the midst of a crazy world, we encourage you to take time today to reflect on why we are celebrating. We are all sinners, and there is nothing we can do to achieve the perfection that God requires in order for us to enter God’s perfect Heaven. No amount of good works on our part can take away the sin debt that we owe. (Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23)
This is why Jesus was born. Because God so loved the world (John 3:16), He would rather let His Son die a horrible death than to spend eternity apart from us, while we are paying for our own sins in Hell. Out of His great love, He gave the only thing that could ever pay the debt – His only Son. Jesus’ death on the cross, the shedding of His blood, was a substitutionary payment for our sins. He had no sins of His own, yet He willingly gave His life to pay for ours. God proved that He accepted the payment that Jesus made by raising Him from the dead.
If you have never realized this before, we encourage you – believe it. Believe that what God says is the truth – that Jesus paid the price for your sins. That God is satisfied with Jesus’ payment. That your good deeds, change of heart, or prayers have no influence on your eternity because the price has already been paid. Belief in Jesus’ payment alone is all that God requires. He gives you the free gift of eternal life in Heaven, and He can do that because the price has been paid by His Son.
Will you accept God’s free gift today?
John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Merry Christmas!
