Salvation - The redemption of man is of utmost importance. In the fullness of time God sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for the sins of the world. In the world today the salvation of man is promoted in various ways to the point of much confusion. The truth of salvation must be found in the Bible, the Word of God.
Although there are many religions, there are really only two schools of thought concerning salvation. On the one hand is the idea that salvation is in some way dependent on the works of man, the sinner. On the other hand salvation is based solely upon grace. Notice what the Bible says in
Romans 11:6 - And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
Salvation must be either by grace or it is by works. There is no middle of the road. Whether one work or many works are required for man’s salvation it falls into the category of works and therefore work is work and not grace. So which is it, grace or works?
Let’s consider what the Bible says...
All men are sinners.
Romans 3:23
The penalty of sin is death.
Romans 6:23
A person must be perfect to enter heaven.
Revelation 21:27
Man can do nothing to obtain this perfection.
Galatians 2:16
Ephesians 2:8-9
God provided a sin-bearer, Jesus Christ, and imputes to man His righteousness.
Isaiah 53:6
2 Corinthians 5:21
Man needs only belief in Jesus Christ as his personal Savior for salvation.
John 3:16
Acts 16:31
Man can be certain of his salvation now and that his salvation cannot be lost because eternal life is eternal.
John 3:16
1 John 5:13
The Cape Baptist Church is dedicated to the clear gospel of grace apart from any works for salvation.
